It has both a hard cover and a silicone cover to protect the tablet, and a clear screen shield and hard plastic frame to protect the front display. All ports have covers and all buttons are super easy to use under the case cover. The screen is very responsive under the clear shield and the case doesn?t block the audio going in or coming out. The case doesn?t have a hard cover for the screen, and it doesn?t have a tablet stand.

It's not easy to make a very functional case that's also very rugged for the iPad 2, just ask the folks at OtterBox. But Trident Case has produced a rugged case that's not only easy to use but a joy to use. The Trident Kraken Series Case for iPad 2 offers 3 pieces of protection and covers the entire iPad 2 including ports and buttons. Compared to the OtterBox Defender Case for iPad 2, the Trident Kraken Series Case is as protective except that the OtterBox comes with an extra hard cover for the screen that also functions as a tablet stand. The Trident case is actually easier to use thanks to well placed button covers and excellent design. As with the OtterBox case, the Trident Kraken Series Case for iPad 2 comes in layers. First layer is a silicone case that?s not super heavy duty or thick, and it covers the back of the iPad 2 and wraps around and covers some of the front bezel surrounding the display. The silicone case is soft and smooth, and it won?t scratch the iPad 2?s surface. It also makes it very easy to put it on or take it off of the tablet. The case doesn?t cover the front bezel too close to the screen and get in the way of using apps that utilize the touch screen near the edge. The silicone case has thick, reinforced corners to help absorb shock and impact force. The silicone cover also comes with port covers to ensure they are protected from the elements.

Outside of the silicone cover, the Trident Kraken Series Case has a layer of polycarbonate hard plastic cover protection. The hard plastic cover is durable and has cutouts for the ports, the rear camera as well the silicone tablet handles that has extra padding and ribbed for a better grip. The hard cover has a center cutout hole to let the Apple logo show through, but has a piece of plastic over the hole so that water and dust don?t get through. The hard cover also has cutout lines for the speaker grill, while it doesn?t block water entirely, the speaker grill is lined with a micro dust filter to block out dust. The hard cover is curved to form fit the iPad 2, and has two strong locking clamps on top to securely lock the front cover to the case.

The Trident Kraken Series Case for iPad 2 is as functional as it?s rugged. For a very protective case, the Kraken is actually quite slim and adds 13.8 oz. to the iPad 2. The case has cutouts for the 30-ping connector, the 3.5mm audio jack and the screen lock button, but it also offers port covers for these cutouts. The covers are easy to use and block out dust, moisture and other particles from the iPad 2?s ports. The case has raised buttons covering the iPad 2?s power button, volume buttons as well as the Home button on the front. Though these controls are under the covers, they are very easy to use, especially the Home button.

he Trident Kraken Series Case for iPad 2 has a cutout for the rear camera which expose the camera lens for taking photos and videos. The case has cutouts for the front facing camera through two layers of protection, but the camera is under the clear screen shield sheet, though it doesn?t reduce the clarity of the camera. The small holes on top of the Trident Kraken Series Case let the mic audio through, and the speaker grill on the back enjoys the cutout with micro dust filter.
